Has anyone ever tried using XM's Roady receiver in their E60 without mounting an external antenna? If so, what was the reception like?

I had a Roady and then a MyFi in my 325Xi with the antenna mounted on the rear deck. The reception was great. I had a few areas with brief drops but so did someone else I know and he had his antenna mounted on the outside of his car. I don't think the E60 would be much different.
I had it in the middle of the rear deck and close to the window.

I am using a My-Fi in my 525i (2006) with antenna placed on the dash far passenger corner. 3 bars, all the time there is a clear line of site...
Mounted the magnetic attenna at first but it scratched the paint surface. The installation tech suggested the inside mount due to his experience and it worked...
