I just noticed tonight that one of my headlights has a slight darker tint, maybe more red. Although they both look the same when initialy powered on.

Would this be a bulb or ballast issue?

This sounds like a bulb issue. If you have HID try to switch ballasts around and see if the output of the bulb is the same. If it is, then we can assume it is the bulb. If that is the case and you do get new bulbs be sure to purchase a set and replace both bulbs and not just the one.

The light going pinkish is an early sign of impending bulb failure. If your still in doubt it may be easier to swap the bulbs round rather then the ballast packs. You will also probably need to change both bulbs as a pair because a new bulb may have a slightly different colour to an old one and you may end up with odd colour lights. I think the only OEM brands are Osram and Philips who offer a couple of colour temperatures (white and very slightly blueish). The standard OEM temp offers the best white light performance. I would personally avoid the really hot and blue coloured Chinese made unbranded rubbish.

Ive got a brand new set of 6000K HIDs from John @ Motorcepts. Had them on for 2 weeks at most. Went back to stock 4200K Too blue for my taste.
Ill let them go for $35/set. (plus shipping)

well i just ordered a pair of philips bulbs off ebay for just over $100. i think they are about as close to the original bulbs as you can get. same brand, and almost same numbers on the back.

also important, you need to check if your car has d1s or d2s bulbs. and what's messed up is that my reflector inside the headlight writes d2s(look at your reflector from the outside), but i opened them up like others suggested, and i have d1s bulbs. so make sure you open the headlight to see which bulbs you have.
