AFAIK ... Auto leveling is related to up-down movement ... maybe it left-right needs adjustment instead.
Does the led on dash light switch blink if you put the knob to auto (to the left)? If yes your adaptive module maybe having problem.

hey my car has that problem. Whenever i start the car i get an error (adaptive headlamps). So your saying if the switch blinks then it might be the module?cuz mine blink but i thought this is how it should be.Also, My lights are pointed way down and i carried it in to have them adjusted and the guy told me that they tried calibrating them on the pc but one in particular wont adjust. Is there a way to adjust them manually? and does each headlamp carry a module? thanks

adaptive lights can fail. if your "auto" setting on your lights shows a flashing light, you have an adaptive failure. This could be water in your control module or just some other failure.
Can you adjust the headlights manually? If you can, you should be able to at least aim them properly even if they don't pivot with the wheel any longer then look on ebay for a cheap control unit to replace your likely faulty one (after checking).

Yes i noticed it while driving down the road, the passenger side headlight points towards the ditch. And does anyone know how to adjust the lights left to right? And also i have not noticed the led blinking, although i never run it on auto. I'll check it and see if it blinks. Thanks for the info guys, i really appreciate it!

Im having the same prob on my 06 525i. The green light blinks inside and the screen shows "adaptive headlamps". My car doesnt even have adaptive headlights. I swapped the headlights completely with different zenon ones and still the same problem occurs. Is there a headlight control module under the glove box?? Or in the passenger kick panel??

Solid green means the adaptive system is functioning. The 545i came with adaptive headlights standard. The headlights adjustment can also be fine tuned manually. The outer screw is used for lateral adjustment. Failsafe for adaptive headlights is down and to the left. This occurs when the stepper motor fails.
