Sorry,it's e60 forum but I have a problem with my e53 which I believe it's pretty similar with e60 in some parts.Recently it has some noise like whistle coming down button on the steering wheel shaft boot but I don't know where excatly is.It can be heard on the engine bay too.
I would appreciate any help.

Hello Bujup,...you have to be a little bit more specific in order to get an adequate answer in this one.

Is the sound you mention always there or is it when you are steering to the endpoints? Does the sound change while steering? Describe on which occasions the sound happens or changes. I'm assuming for now it's the hydraulic steering pump. A dirty or clocked filter in the reservoir which needs cleaning or replacing and a fluid change (pentosin CHF-11S) might very well help in this case.
You could also add a bit of treatment to the fluid which will help killing the noise but only after you've replaced the fluid and reservoir as well. These resorvoir's are cheap and you'll need approx 1 liter of CHF-11s for the fluid replacement.
