Angry WTF!! Comfort Access, Keys Locked in Car!!

Leaving work this morning, (working nights at Nuc plant in South Texas, 2 hrs from home) with keys in my backback, I open the rear door and toss my backback in. As it hits the seat my buddy on the other side tries to open the pass side rear. I hear two beeps like it unlocked again. I was already shutting the door to go to the drivers door. Car was locked. I thought that with the key inside the car should open.

I never got the BMW assist stuff setup and dont know who to call to see if the car can be remotly opened. Anybody got any idea why the car wouldnt unlock. I ended up borrowning a car and driving all the way home to get my spare.

What can do to avoid this in the future.

Do you not have a second key fob, or the plastic spare key? I carry the plastic key in my wallet at all times.

Yhea I got my spare, I just had to make a 3-1/2 hr trip to get it. Dont have a plastic key, but my wallet was in the bag anyway.

Sorry, missed reading the 2nd para. of your post.
Your car should not lock with the key fob left inside.
Leaving it inside the trunk, CA will pop open the lid after a second or two.

The back seat might be a bit of a dead zone especially if your key was in a bag that happened to be covered by metal or similar objects like cell phones, computers, etc. or the lock button may have been pressed by something when the bag was tossed in.

I had they dealer actually set my fob in the middle console just right and it ended up bing in a dead zone in the car. And locked them out from doing service. They were pretty embarrassed they did it.

There is a class action for this problem.
