Default Would you repair or get rid... E60 2004 530D

Hi All,

I have had 2004 530D E60 for coming up for 5 years now. It has done 180k miles, I purchased at 95k, it had a new engine from BMW at 60k due to the infamous swirl flap issue...

It now has the following repairs needed and I have been quoted as below...

- Offside front track rod end ball joint has slight play - £127.20 including VAT

*Recommend 4 wheel alignment to be carried out to avoid uneven tyre wear, £120 inc.

- Nearside front lower (rear of the two arms) suspension arm has slight play in pin/bush, £223.80 including VAT

- Offside rear anti-roll bar linkage has slight play in ball joint £79 including VAT per side (recommended to replace in pairs)

- Prop shaft donut mounting to gearbox worn, £298 including VAT

So I am looking at best part of £900, I will obtain other quotes to check prices but is this kind of spend worth it given the age of the car?

I use it mainly for commuting 50 miles per day and in all honesty if I were getting rid I would look at a newer E60 ! (until I can afford the new model!)

Thanks in advance for any advice

all old cars have slight play in the joints. i wouldnt bother unless they got worse. maybe just do the propshaft donut if you have vibrations.
