When you purchase the Ding Shield plan you will be covered for an unlimited number of PDR (paintless dent removal) repairs during the 5 year term. That is unlimited repairs and unlimited visits. Ding Shield will cover repairs up to the size of a credit card which includes creases, bodyline damage and dents on all vehicle body panels.

Although a door ding may be $100-$125 to repair, larger damage can cost up to $250 per dent. In addition, you will not need to claim from your insurance policy (which typically has a $500 deductible) or be out of pocket with any excess wear and tear if you are leasing the vehicle. Most owners also benefit from the enhanced appearance at trade-in value which can also more than offset the difference. What?s more you get to drive your vehicle in ding and dent free condition during vehicle ownership.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions and Thank you for considering the purchase of Ding Shield from Dent Wizard, the World Leader in Paintless Dent Removal.

Wow, thanks for the reply! I always like to see companies involved in discussions like this.

One question I have is the policy duration. You mention that it is unlimited, but are there choices on how long the coverage is? The plan I was offered was for 5 years, but I may only plan on having the car for 3-4 years. Do you offer a 3 year plan at a reduced rate? Also, must these polices be purchased through the dealer or do you offer them direct?

I'd skip it and pay the small fee per dent.

There is an old concept of "self Insure".

You can insure yourself to death. When I got my car, they wanted to sell me wheel/tire insurance, Upholstery insurance, and window etching insurance. it would have come to thousands and not really ever be used.

I felt it would be best to put that money (later) on an extended vehicle insurance. That will be used.

BUT door dings you cannot control really. you can minimize the possibility by parking away from traffic, but at the end of the day no matter how carefully you park your car can still easily get dinged. upholstery insurance probably is helpful for people with kids or dogs that travel in the car...

i think city livin' got me to consider the dent insurance, though it was $800 they offered here for me--probably because it is so common in a city. in general i skip insurances like that, though.

I would just look into your own history, in the past 5 years did you get enough door dings to warrant having a service like this?

Depends on where you live and where you park. I have taken my 530i to a dent place twice in last 4 years. They usually work with you if you pay cash. One of the dents I had was 3 inches long and 2 inches wide from some jackass's door and I paid $100 cash.
I wouldn't pay $500 up front when they are limiting you to how many times you can visit them. Also, not every ding or dent is removable depending upon where it is at.

Default tried, really waste of money

I got many dents(6-8) during hurricane sandy from branches of trees fallen on the front of the car in my parking lot and tried to use this service. They successfully removed only one dent - rather big dent on the corner of the hood and tried passenger door (unsuccessful, just widened it) and did nothing with the rest(untouched), so I need to go to Geico and pay $1000 as deductible to get it done. I signed service for 3 years. Now thinking how to cancel it, not big deal 20$ every month, but technology not working and even create more questions than answers.

125 - 250 Hmmm this is why you don't use dent wizard... I have five door dings and one was large maybe the size of a 50 C piece. 60 bucks took out all of them. This was through a friend of mine but you could have gotten the same price. These guys run around chasing storms and often hit dealers used car lots. If anyone is in the SC area let me know and I'll share their numbers. Basically one dent is about $30-40 but if there are several then they normally combine and give you a break in the cost.
