Last week while exiting the highway a brick sized rock came from nowhere, and struck the hood of the car (scratched and dented) shattered the windshield, flew up hit the roof (scratched and dented) flew over hit the trunk (scratched only) pepperd the front of the car paint chips abound. Now i am not sure if the slab of concreate was thrown by a person off the overpass, or if a truck on the overpass dislodged it, or if part of the bridge actually broke lose. A little over 1500 dollars in repairs needed including painting the whole hood area. Now this is where it gets interesting after the tears stopped and windshield was replaced two days later not even a week later going to work a truck from about 10 cars away and in another lane threw up a rock cracked a brand new windshield. Just got it replaced yesterday. Damn what luck anyway just wanted to vent with some people that could feel my pain. Now question since i have to get the bonnet repainted i want to install a clear bra how long should i have to wait before i can install one? P.S. no pics to follow too painfull

I was talking about the clear bra with my body guy who just painted my Mtech kit. Depending on the mixture of solvents used for "bite" in the paint it can take a few months to fully cure. Im no expert, but I trust my guy...he really seems to know his stuff (REALLY good paint work - identical to factory finish without any polishing!)

Ouch! that sucks sorry to hear... mark it off as bad luck.

I've also heard of a month for the paint to fully cure before installing the clear bra but I didnt follow that rule when i got the M-Tech from bumper installed. I think I waited only about a week.

Sorry to hear about your bad luck. You don't need a bra. You need a force field. :'(

I can feel your pain! My car was less than 6 months old, when an as_hole decided to do a "Dukes of Hazzard" back up (without looking) and spin around in a gas station lot, as I was pulling up to the pumps. He creamed both passenger side doors. My "baby" was in the body shop for six weeks, while I drove a Nissan Altima (oh the pain). I think I would prefer the rock though. At least it did not get out of the car and say "I'm sorry, I was in a hurry to get home 'cause I was playing softball all day".

And the one month wait is good advice, according to a friend who does body work.

I know the force has not been with me lately, Heck i am literally affraid to get on the highway anymore and to top it off my modded and use to be prestine e34 that i allowed my oldest daughter to to drive 16. Well just say it aint prestine anymore started off with a side swipe in the drive way that know one knows or can explain (i was out of town for two weeks on business) and returned to that, got a call couple of weeks ago "Dad the car cut off on me and won't start back up". Upon reaching the car i could smell the coolant, you guessed it blown head gasket better than that a cracked cylinder head on a 6 grand engine that i had built for me couple of years ago. Oh well that's father hood. It does go on more but that is only for me and my person on my shoulder to discuss. I will wait the month though to install the clear bra thanks guys.

A small rock from a construction truck put a 4" crack in my windshield....BMW of manhattan is telling me it will cost $1800 to replace the windshield alone.
