Allthough earlier my shop told me that it wouldn't work, it did!
I have the basic A/C.
After the SW update (17.x) the fan speed is automatic.
Nice surprise!
On the other hand the anti trap function on rear windows is malfunctioning... I'll have to go back and get that fixed.
Just thought I share this info with you.

I got the same (new) feature after a software update in June in my old 525iA (MY 2004).
In this new one, that I got last Friday, the A/C works as it should.
This anti trap feature seems to be a commen failure. I had the same problem in my old Mystic Blau E60.
Have not discovered the same problem in this new car.
