Wooden 2x4 vs Miro 111

Was driving home at around 2am on a stretch of highway where the street lights were out so it was very dark, it just happens that a random 2x4 that I'm guessing fell off someones truck was laying in the road. Before I could react to avoid it the edge of my wheel clipped it. Miro 111 vs Wood, I think wood wins. I'm pretty sure something like this is beyond repair, looks like I'm gonna be buying a new rim.

Not yet, the sound was so loud that I was almost positive my front bumper was torn off, because the sound of the impact was so loud. I checked the front bumper when I arrived home and luckily it was still intact somehow. I haven't had a chance to look underneath yet but I hope no major damage is done. Guess I'll take a look tomorrow and see what if anything else got jacked up.

If the outside face of the rim is that bad, the inside will probably look twice as bad. Even though it looks like alot of damage, it may still be able to be repaired. One of the rims on my 95 Mustang looked sort of like that, and they repaired it. Technology is much better now than 16 years ago, so check it out.

Was the 2x4 pinched down by anything when you hit it? If it was just freestanding/loose on the ground that seems like that should never happen. If it was being held in place then I could see that happening.

They aren't horrible rims but they aren't forged rims either, it is pretty much like the saying that you get what you pay for. I've driven on mine for almost 14,000 miles now without any bends, cracks etc. (knock on wood) until this issue and obviously it was a user error by not avoiding an object in the road at high speeds. I'm not sure how a $5000 set of wheels would of held up vs these $1200 set of wheels hitting a large object at 70+ mph but I wouldn't think in that situation it would have ended well either.
