Cool

I got a call from my dealer this morning that my 2008 528xi actually went into production (finally!) yesterday at 5:00 a.m. and should be complete on 4/25.

It seemed like it took forever from order number to production date (not really--it was only two weeks--but to me it did! ), but now it begins! Of course now that I know it is actually being "born" I'll be completely neurotic waiting for it.

I'm telling ya, between obsessing and reading these forums I think of little else!

Congrats. When did you place your order? I placed mines last week and the Dealer told me it should take 6 to 10 weeks for me to get my 550i.

I placed my order on April 11th, so if the dealer was correct on the start (production) date, it took 7 days from the order date. When I ordered my car, my dealer already had a production slot for a 528xi, so they used an existing slot and customized the car with the options I requested. The dealer is hoping I should have my car in the 1st or 2nd week of June.

Why don't you post your desire for the chrome trim in this thread? You will get people coming out of the woodworks wanting to exchange your Shadowline trim for their chrome.

Actually I went into the dealership yesterday and he showed me a car with the shadowline trim and I like it. I only recenly saw the term when I looked at my order (as it comes with the sport package) and was afraid it wasn't going to look as sharp as the chrome.

...so no, there will be no requests for chrome trading...

Congrats!! Having just taken delivery of my 528i yesterday, after having ordered it on February 1, I can tell you first hand that I can feel your pain. It is so exciting when you see that you are scheduled for production. I am a dangerous and highly annoying combination of neurotic and impatient (my poor wife...) so if you are at all like me, just try to keep yourself distracted. The waiting is pure pain, but when you get the call that you are ready for pick up and you first see that car sitting there, you forget all about the pain. If distractions aren't working, post your questions (the most obscure questions WILL be answered here) and put the 800 number on your speed dial.
