Would you put on wheels from a 3-series? I think E46. Do they even fit?

Tire size 225/45/17

Nope, wrong offset. E60 has a 20 offset; E46 offset 47 IIRC. Plus 225/50/17 is the stock E60 tire. Not that the 45 aspect won't work, but the speedometer will be off.

I have a set of snow tires and wheels from my E46 M3 that I use on my E60. I use 20mm spacers from Turner Motorsport and longer bolts. It was cheaper and less hassle than selling the set up I had and buying a new set of snow tires/wheels for my 545i.

The speedo difference would be 2 mph, not that big a deal.
