It s my last option because if you think about it if the "S" wears out im left with normal tires agn thats why I wanted a set of dedicated winters so there always good until I replace them

I have my 124's (Staggerd) from my 545 sport with 245's Micheline Pilot Alpine all around. I just have the rubber unmounted/remounted every season to put the best rubber in the back.

Why would you want to use 19" 172s as your winter wheels though? They'll get destroyed over the potholes, bro! My advice, do what Scott did and get a set of 18" wheels with dedicated snow tries for the winters. As for those 172s, put on some serious summers on them

If you're in NYC, DWS is good enough, don't use this past winter as an example, because usually, there isn't that much snow on the ground and when it does snow, a day or two later the roads are clear. I rolled on conti DWS on stock 172's with no issues. And potholes live in NYC all year round, so it's whatever. just keep your eyes on the road!

Dont listen to Vlad, lol. My 172's WERE my winter wheels and there fine, and like mookish said, just keep your eyes on the pavement. You have to regardless around here lately ANYWAY. There is no way around it. If you hit something huge its going to kill your wheel/tire anyway. PLus the 172's look way better then an 18"er.. Thats just my 10cents. These roads arent going to be magically all paved and brand new by the summer, so you might as well enjoy them now that the snow is "likely" gone. (fingers crossed)
