I live in Buffalo, NY. Winter is coming and I am looking to not crash by bimmer. Anyone have any advice on the BEST winter tires that will be wrapped around a pair of OEM 17" rims. I am not exactly the most experianced with RWD, so any help on some great tires would help!

I'm running Bridgestone Blizzaks on my 138's.
First pair of winter tires I ever owned so I can only compare them to the OEM Continental all seasons but I gotta say theses tires are the shit!
I immediately noticed the difference when I swapped out my all seasons for the Blizzaks but it really hit me how great these tires were when I was driving home one icy and cold night.
I was easily cruising back home on a twisty mostly ice covered road at 30-40 mph without a problem. I see this E38 7 series with what looked like either low profile all seasons or summers come fish tailing out of a side street so I slow down, put my hazards on and give him plenty of room. The 7 was literally all over the road and could barely keep the car straight at 10-15 mph. Anything over that or god forbid he hit a turn and he would automatically fishtail. The Blizzaks are great tires and I would definitely buy again. Hope this helps.

I purchased Michelin x-ice last winter for my OEM 17" rims and was VERY pleased with the performance. They are quiet and the car performed just like it did in the summer. They got an excellent rating on Consumer Reports. Blizzaks also scored very well.
