I know the Dunlop M3 seems to be the most popular winter tire here, I think as a result of the Tire Rack rankings.
I got the Michelin Pilot Alpin PA2 (225/50VR-17 ). I have always liked Michelin all seasons, and there was a long backorder on the Dunlops.
I just drove home in 2 - 4 inches of snow, ice, and slush, up and down some hills I could not make last year w/o winter tires.
The Pilot Alpin perfomed great. No slip or spin at all. And I am very happy with the dry performance as well.
For those looking for an option to the Dunlops, for whatever reasons, try the Michelins.

I second that.
I've had my Michelin Alpin PA2s for a week now. I like them as well.
