I think a little stone hit my winshield. I normally wouldnt care but its exactly in front of my face when i drive and its the size of a tiny breadcrumb. Does anyone know if theres anything I can do about it to maybe fix that little dot or am I just out of luck?

There are windshield repair companies out there that can sometimes fix chips or blemishes in glass. Most of them are mobile and will come to your car and fix it on the spot.

Your best bet is to simply find one in the phone book and ask them to look at your car to see what your options are.

(Keep in mind that if you have the HUD and a replacement of the glass is needed, you'll need to make sure they use a special windshield or you'll have problems with the HUD image...)

I had a chip fixed in my HUD windshield with no problem. Insurance company picked up the tab and dealt directly with the glass company. I called the insurance company and they asked to speak to the glass repair fellow. I never saw any paper work. It just happened.

I just had mine chip repaired on Monday. Thanks for the flying stone while I was driving in Mass Pike. I called SafeLite to repair the chip. They dealt with the Insurance company. The repair was good.

How big was the chip? I have a very small one (less than 1 mm) right right above the steering wheel and it annoys me very much. SafeLite in NJ said the cannot fix it.

If the chip constitutes a vision problem, then maybe your insurance company may be willing replace the windshield--provided you have the right coverage. Otherwise, you are out of luck if it can't be repaired inexpensively. At least that is the way it would be with my insurance company. Why did Safelite say your chip can't be repaired? Maybe you should check with another company. I have a small chip. I am used to it. You'll probably adjust to yours unless it is a vision problem.
