I noticed yesterday filling my windshield fluid that a) there is some little hook'ish thing that I couldn't figure what it did and b) not that it's a big deal but my last few cars had a little filter attached to it but my E60 doesn't, am I missing it or did it not come w/one and is there really a need for one?

yep, I had such a "filter" on my Audi as well. It was good because I use flowering pot to fill the water in so sometimes you get some dirt in it ![Smile](https://5series.net/forums/images/smilies/imported/smile.gif)
I also used natural rain water collected in a tank in my garden in order to avoid water spots on the winshield which you get with regular water.
anyway, propably BMW is designed only for pure BMW cosmetics and chemicals

My factory shipped washer fluid as a very strong chemical smell to it- much stronger than anything else I've used in our other cars. Anyone know if BMW specifies / sells a special fluid for its cars? Whatever it is, it works very well.

I hate people washing front window on freeway. Do they know all the dirty water will splash onto the car behind them!! ![Frown](https://5series.net/forums/images/smilies/imported/sad.gif)
Nothing against you "BetterMakeWay"

I had a filter/sieve on my E46 320iSE (2001 model) but when I changed to the E46 325iSE (2002 model) it no longer had the filter/sieve. So a bit of cost cutting by BMW for sure as its not on the E60 either <_<
