My left wiper is missing the lower middle portion of my windshield. I had this problem before, and took it in to the dealer. They replaced some sort of spring, and I was wondering where this spring is located? I'd like to replace this instead of having it done at the dealer again. Also, I noticed that the left wiper arm won't click open (like when you clean the glass underneath the wiper blade or replacing the blade). Is this associated to the same spring?

Sounds like something in the wiper arm has become disconnected. Maybe the same spring? You may have to replace the arm if that spring item isn't replaceable as a separate part.

Me too, every time I bend the arm back and forth, some sort of powdery thing would fall out...

that's probably crack airborned into your wipers man! lol... Do you wax your car? could it be wax build-up? Or maybe if it's dark...it's probably rust.

I've encountered this issue a number of times, and the cause has always been "crud" building up in the wiper arm hinge that prevents the tensioning spring from keeping the wiper in contact with the windscreen. If you can blow out/lubricate the hinge that should resolve the problem. I get the issue every couple of months out here with all the crud on the roads during our winter season.
