How about this? I have a brand new '05 black sapphire E60 and have recently noticed several tiny spots on the hood, roof and trunk lid. It appears to me that the windshiled washer solvent is causing this damage (along with the headlight washers). I also noticed a large stain on the leading edge of the hood directly above the left headlamp.

Has anyone else with black or black sapphire paint noticed this? I need some feedback before heading to the dealer.

I have not seen this on my car. Maybe it's from something else. They put some strange chemicals on the roads in the winter these days.

i use specifically rain -x, there is an alcohol content in it. all new bmw s comes with it in the resevoir. it is available only through a limited number of dealers and specialty car stores. i dont think it causes any damage to the paint work of the vehicle.

I have a mystic blue 530i and i noticed that the rain is not beading up the same near the spray nozzles -- making me think that it is thin on wax in this area. this is not really spot like but an entire area that no longer beads up water like the rest of my hood.

similar?

Are you using wax or Rejex or something else on the car? Maybe the WW solvent is interacting with it or removing it.

I spoke to the Service Manager today. He thinks that perhaps the WW solvent is interacting with the wax (maguier's). I'm not sure I agree, but will stop by the dealer soon to have him take a look. Stay tuned.
