I eventually have to replace my windshield as it checked at the bottom no idea how but got 15' long crack. No sense to fix it I think. My comprehensive ded is to high and have to pay in cash. I call safelite glass and made an appointment to install a new windshield. The rep told me that there is no deference between OEM and aftermarket windshield in quality and fitment as 99% they do is aftermarket. I went with aftermarket because of the price deference which is almost double. Just want to know you opinion and experience with similar case. I still have time to make changes
Thx

A 15' crack is a hell of a crack. ![Laughing](https://5series.net/forums/images/smilies/imported/laughing.gif)
There is a difference in the OEM and Chinese windshields, which is why they vary greatly in price. Although, in all my time working at dealers, I've never had a problem with the Chinese windshields.

So if I go with afternarket there should be no problems. Does auto headlight operation do anything with windshield?

The aftermarket will fit but there are differfences that you will probably not see or even notice. If I had to pay, I would go aftermarket.

I had to have my windshield replaced after some prick driving a cement truck didnt clean up after himself after pouring some cement. Went with ppg glass could have picked pilkington. No difference in glass besides no bmw stamp. Glass is excellent. But I did submit the bmw quote to insurance and got almost 1500 bucks for the glass the replacement glass was only 180.

Thanks all for helping me to make discussion. The price for nonOEM is around $382 with all gaskets and sensor installed at house and OEM is $788 installed. I definitely go with aftermarket as you say there will be only unseen deferences but figment and quality is same.
