I believe the rain sensor is part of the windshield and am assuming that will make it quite expensive. Has anyone had theirs replaced at the dealership? If so, what was the damage?

I have the rain sensors and the heads up display. I was trying to decide on whether or not to buy the glass coverage. I asked my SA what the cost would be to replace the windshield...about $1200 is what I was quoted. Glass coverage...YEAH!!

Yes I am concerned with the Pitting on the windshield? If one does not have an Insurance policy (Guess I could ask for one from my agent) will wiping with the Rain X more than one time say 3 times help build a protective shield over the windshield? You would think Silicate's over Silicones (Glass) would help.
...
Just my 2 cents.

I asked about this at my dealer this AM and they told me it would be $1,500 for a new windshield!! holy crap...
is this with or w/o HUD?
I think i read somewhere that our cars w/HUD require a special windshield...can anyone confirm this?
is there an aftermarket glass, i can really careless about having the bmw logo in the windshield

Happened to me about 6 mos. ago. I thought for sure it was going to crack, but like you said -- just a pit.
I thought I had heard that ins cos will replace pitted windshields without a deductible because that pitting makes the vehicle dangerous to drive.

Ask your claims agent, and press the safety issue.
