window won't go up. found unknown plastic piece in door.
yesterday i went to roll down the window and i got the antitrap notification. the window would not go up all the way. i pull over to check it out. i touch the window and it fell down. this morning i opened up the door to find a little green plastic piece in the bottom of the inside of the door. i also find what i think is the motor cable. the motor was still making noise so i think it is still working. any idea what this piece is and how to hook the cable back it. its an 08 550i lci. thanks.

There is a piece that secures glass to the regulator. I've heard of these breaking. I'm pretty sure the regulator has to be changed. If you hear the motor that's a good thing.

yeah the regulator is my guess too. maybe i could find a diagram of how the wire hooks up and somewhat rig it until i can find a regulator. i think i may have to put the wire back on the track also. anyone have any input or point me in the right direction.

Slamming the door while closing the door when the window glass is down can cause that plastic piece to break and cause the window glass to fall down out of the track.

i just got the car so no telling if the previous owner slammed the door while the glass was down. i got a new regulator but the problem i have now is removing the top bolt. there isnt enough room for me to get a tool in there to loosen it because of the glass. any ideas anybody???

Yeah I actually had to remove some of the trim and take the whole window out to get to the top bolt. Figuring out that I needed to take out the whole window took me longer than everything else. The part that I got from advanced auto parts was actually a perfect fit after it was bolted down.
