Our increasingly crappy weather is making me consider a set of snow tires. BMW offers a package for the M5/M6 which consists of the double spoke 184M (18") with Michelin Pilot Alpin PA2s. My car has the M-sport suspension (Canadian car). The dealer says they may or may not rub due to the offset. Any one know for sure? They are a non-returnable special order ($1,116 per wheel) so a maybe they will, maybe they won't answer doesn't cut it. I also have a call into BMW Canada to try to get an answer.

Does anyone have any knowledge of this combination? Thanks.

Your dealer doesn't seem to have the slightest clue at all.

They are 8x18 with a 20 offset and will not even fill the arches properly. These will fit any E60/61, lowered or not, no matter if M-sport pack or not, either.

These will fit without getting anywhere near to a problem 1000% (if such a thing does exist)

Thanks olli_535d! My expectations of my dealer are very low so I'm not disappointed. Is there something that would fit/fill better that you know of (given that I need to run snows...) I run the 19" 172s currently and they seem a bit small to my eye in terms of filling the wheel wells.

Thanks.

Olli is the man

But how can the dealer be this stupid

The best winter setup (for your car) is 17" OEM and 225/50 17" wintertyres (use Search)!

For a winter setup I would go away from the thought of filling the arches. For bad, wintery conditions less is more. On my 535d M-sport, I also run 8x18 (the style 135 wheels) I like my big summer wheels in 19 or 20 inch, filling the arches as much as possible, but for the about usually 4 bad months of the year, I prefer to have less look and more function/safety. Don't forget, the wider the tyre, the less it's water and slush cutting ability and the bigger the risk of swimming up.

If you want a bid more arch fill without going wider on the tyre/wheel combo, you could always think about spacers, to bring the wheels closer to the arch.
