Anyone know if the stock CD player recognizes MP3 files? Not MP3 files that have been coverted into WAV files for CD playing.
Although, I guess I won't have a stock CD player since I ordered a NAV? BTW, I am in the U.S.
If so, that's GREAT. I can fit about 100 MP3s on a CD.

In the UK there are 2 radio choices: Business (comes as standard) and Professional (cost option). Only the Professional radio is MP3 compatible. Of course you US boys may have it as standard, a bit like the Nav situation.
EDIT: Just noticed you specified Nav, therefore you should definitely get the uprated CD/MP3 player.

I've got SatNav with the Professional radio option (& the CD changer). As far as I know - it won't play MP3 until a future update to IDRIVE is applied
I've tried with 2 CD's filled with MP3's
If anyone else has a different story to tell - please share!

Hi,
I have the business radio and cd player. It plays mp3 with no problem at all.

Is the updated IDrive story confirmed by a dealer? When is supposed to be available?

Some MAY find this confusing because they have Mp3s on their PC and then they burned them onto a CD. But what some don't realize is that the MP3 file was then automatically converted to a WAV file (and only like 14 wav files usually fit on a CD).
But a CD can hold about a 100 MP3 files. So again, I want to know if it can play a MP3 file. If so, then I don't need a CD Changer! I can play about 100 songs on one CD! I'd just like this whole thing really confirmed.

I have burned 2 CD's with MP3's (and not converted .wav files) and neither work.
Saying that, I've only tried them with the stock CD/DVD player that came with the NAV unit (that includes the Professional radio that supposedly plays MP3's) - I plan to try it out with the CD changer, but haven't gotten round to it yet!
