I don't plan on posting any pictures but basically I backed my car into my cousins car when leaving a Halloween party the other night and no I wasn't drinking lol. Her door got a pretty good dent in it and my rear bumper ended up being pressed in pretty good and will more than likely be replaced. My question basically as far as anyone knows would insurance replace my rear bumper with a another m-tech rear bumper or would they only replace it with the stock standard rear bumper that came with my car? Not sure if the insurance people even know the difference but yeah good info to know I suppose before calling it in.

Depending on your insurance "situation", small claims ... say > $1000 may cost you more in surcharges or rating increases than paying repair out of pocket.

As long as the bumper is around the same cost as OEM or less it shouldn't be a problem.

I don't think the insurance know if you have an M package or not. It is still a BMW OEM parts.

If the prices are the same or similar, I would think the entire transaction could be handled at the body shop level. If the M-tech part costs more, you may be able to pay the difference directly to the body shop and they'll bill the insurance company for the cost of the non M-tech part. That's not fraudulent, is it?

no its fine, USAA pays you directly and you pay the shop so however you spend the money is at your discretion minus any deductibles depending if it was your fault etc

when i cracked a headlight they paid me around $1500 to get a new one minus $500 deduc and i bought a used one from ebay for $250 shipped so ya know

+1....Also a few months ago my rear standard bumper was a victim of a hit and run in a parking lot. State Farm looked at it, entered required OEM parts from their database, printed it out and cut me a check. When I looked at the parts list, it turned out the he parted the OEM MTech rear

I'm sure that if your insurance inspects the car, show them that the part you have has the Mtech rear and they will update it accordingly.
