why not m5 if you like the styling and size of the e60?

Happy with it? Did you have to send them your ECU?

I cant live with 12 MPG Avg.... And they are a bear to service. Not may 6-Speeds around either.

Coming from more 'responsive' vehicle M3 I can empathize. Dinans offers a lightened flywheel as wheel as ECU and intake mods. Go to www.diffsonline.com if you want a LSD and final drive change. These mods will liven up your vehicle somewhat. Or if you don't mind go for an M5 if you don't mind the MPG penalty.

For these same exact 3 reasons, you wont be happy with an M3 either buddy.

I COMPLETELY AGREE! I have an '08 550i 6-speed and the first thing I did was purchase the full line of Dinan engine performance mods (intake, chip, exhaust, throttle body) I still feel my Dinan 540 e39 with autospeed-tronic was faster and more invigorating.

And invigorating is what I was looking for from this car.

On another note, how is the feeling when you sift gears. Should it be effortless going though the gear speeds or should it require a little *umf*?

I made the jump from a 550i to the M5 one year ago and my only complaint is that I was an idiot for not doing it sooner.

I think you get so much more bang for your buck buying a used M5 versus modding the 550i. And the gas mileage issue is a weak argument - you already are driving a $70,000 machine and so the extra $75 per month on gasoline is a rounding error.

Go get the M3 or M5.

With ESS you don;t have to send them your ECU if you have a shop locally that can do the software upgrade. Here in SoCal we are lucky enough to have RPI locally that is the exclusive ESS vendor/tuner in Cali, they do a great job and it doesn't take that long.
