Why do some LCI headlights have a clear inner lens?

I am looking into getting adaptive LCI headlights that I can cut open for Orions. I currently have LCI headlights and the main difference I see between the two is the inner lens (the one closest to the grille) is clear on mine but not on the one I want to get.
Mine looks like this...

The one I want to get looks like this:

I tried to find out online but no luck so far. Does anyone know why the inner lens is not clear on one and clear on the other one?
Thanks!

The bottom pic which has frosted inner/lens is in use for cornering light and the headlight is Adaptive (also marked by adaptive wording around the Xenon lens ring).
While the top picture is only Bi-Xenon capable the inner reflector not functioning (aside from housing the H8 bulb for both of the AE).
The top picture is not available for US market since US market Bi-Xenon is Adaptive. I'm using the same exact one you have.
So if you getting the kind w/ frosted lens you will not able to use the adaptive portion (and also the cornering light) and also cost more.

Ah makes total sense. Thanks guys.
For those that have retrofited adaptive headlights. I am coming from LCI without adaptive. If I get an adaptive headlight, will they work "Plug-n-play"? Or is coding required? Same thing for the cornering lights. Will that work once plugged in?
Thanks!

We can only wish ... w/ our car almost everything need coding ... even adding another cup holder need coding too
j/k ... maybe plug-'n-pray is a more suitable term ![Big Grin](https://5series.net/forums/images/smilies/imported/biggrin.gif)
Cornering lights work in conjunction w/ adaptive control so enable coding AHL (Adaptive) may turn on cornering light.
Among many things aside from just AHL module then coding the messy part is at least you have to re-wire from each headlight to LCM 'cuz it doesn't have proper wiring presently them maybe additional sensors.
