The MkIII designated Range Rover (2003-current) was designed ground-up by BMW.
There have been some changes, mostly for the better, since the sale to Ford, most notably the switch from the BMW V8 to the higher-powered Jaguar aluminum V8, but the next redesign, the first by Ford, is not due until 2009 or 2010.

[/quote]The Range Rover Sport is built on the LR3 platform. However I don't own the Range Rover Sport, I own the Range Rover-- completely different vehicles with confusingly similar names. The "sport" is not a variant of the full-size Range Rover, it a totally different model. And it was designed and built after the Ford takeover.
