No it really did not have anything to do w/ the color but.... color can effect the price. I was just showing how the world of KBB.com and Edmunds.com do not have real world prices compared to what the auctions have cars for. That is why when you go to a dealer you will find the price they quote you under what you are told by KBB or Edumunds. They use auction prices because they know if they cannot get rid of the car on there lot then they will need to send it to auction and still want to make a couple hundred bucks on the used car when it is all said and done. There are alot of people who run the auction circuit making 500-700 a car. Now do that 10 times a month in a auction and you will see why they do it.

Now i know people will argue stating that they got KBB price for there car. What I said is not law but a general rule of thumb. Your results may vary

I just purchased my car a few weeks ago. Every car I looked at below $39K had paint that was unacceptable to me. I ended up going CPO because they were selling cars with good cosmetics and the extended warranty for about $2K more than a similar condition non-CPO car. I paid $42K for my completely loaded (nav, head ups display, heated comfort seats, park distance and a bunch of other stuff) 545i with 27K miles. I drove 4 hours one way to buy this car because it was $4K cheaper than the one close by.

Pointerman- You got a pretty good deal. I purchased a 2004 545 w/ 9226 miles w/ Titanium Silver, Black Dakota, Dark Poplar, Nav, PDC, BT, Ipod, Rear Shades, Rear Airbags, Split Rears, Active Steering, Adaptive Headlights, extended maintenance, extended warranty w/ 3.9% financing and the first 2 payment paid by BMW financial for 42k. I totally agree w/ you about the "not so clean cars" out on the market. I use this wholesaler exclusively and I have purchased 5 cars from him(look at my sig) and my dad had bought 3 cars(sl55, bmw X5, and 650i all below 10k miles) We purchase nothing but super clean cars and that is his specialty He is a buyer for some of the biggest luxury car dealers in Chicago. I really have only one perspective and that is from a wholesaler vs. dealer point of view and that is it. I just want to help people out and if someone wants a car, I know that I have connections to get them the car that they want. That is really the point of my responses.

I know how you feel about finding the alpine white models w/ blk interior and navi. I looked for months and couldn't find one. Finally I settled for an 05 530i, white with grey interior premium package no navi. Good thing was that it was CPO and only 18K miles.

Get the alpine white, there's already a ton of silver ones out there.
