There is a big difference between n/a hp/liter and forced induction hp/liter. The Nissan is f/i so it certainly should do better than a n/a motor. Which BTW, the Dinan 380hp upgrade to the 3.0 TT is more hp/liter than the Nissan GTR. I don't know how far the Nissan motor can be taken but I guarantee you'll have warranty issues.
The GTR powerplant at 485hp from 3.8 liters has a higher specific output than Dinan's 380hp from the 3.0 TT engine.

Furthermore, one is stock, and one is modified... Additionally, the GTR is seemingly making over 500bhp from the stock engine, despite its advertised rating of 485bhp.

Nissan's warranty issues on the GT-R have focused on the transmission, not the engine.

I have to agree with Swajames here, the Nissan V6 has been in development since the first V6 Maxima's arrived here 20+ years ago. The motor will not be the issue, tranny, maybe, but not motor.

I thought I read 455hp above. At 485, its slightly better (127 vs 126). I'd assume you could get more out of the Nissan 3.8 (as you can out of the BMW 3.0) but if you breath wrong on the GTR, Nissan denies a warranty claim.

I'm not sure I get your question, are you saying BMW does not have I6 engine with >3L displacement.
The S50B32 and S54B32 are 3.2 I6 (found on E36 M3 and E46 M3 and Z4M), and then there was the old 535 from the E28 (M30B34 I6).

BMW also makes V8 engines with > 3L displacement.
I wish my M Coupe had an S50B32 in there....What an exotic powerplant that is!

I just saw a modified GTR today. What a beast. Sounded better then any street inline six i've ever heard.
