Dont flame, but im sure everyone is curious! I know there is a college kid out there who's ran out of cash after buying rims and went with the ricer route, cutting down the sport springs a coil. Please post your experience and pictures and we shall determine if you are Ricer or Winner

It'll look like any other drop as long as they didn't go to the extreme and cut 3-4 coils and are scraping the ground.
Shock longevity and handling performance will probably be a different story since the spring rate has been changed.
I haven't read about anyone cutting the springs on an E60. Who knows though someone could've posted it and its just buried somewhere on here.

eh, the heat treatment of the metal would deteriorate and you'd most likely end up without springy springs in the end lol. Im sure there are guys who have cut a coil or half off and it didn't do anything in regards to ride quality, but we will have to wait and see until someone posts
But now that i think about it, a coil would be pretty drastic. and shocks would probably take the same beating as they do with lowering springs, since both are basically stiffer springs with more coils. Maybe someone can chime in with comparison between what sport springs and H&R look like side by side?

I have seen plenty do this to a single coil in the E46 with Sport Suspension to achieve this look and the ride quality was the same but since it was lowered about 3/4" - 1" it was reported to handle around corners better. But it is definitely a project. You still have to take springs off. I would never tell anyone to take a torch and heat the spring under weight. Especially with a gas-loaded Shock/strut. I just wouldn't do it.

I've seen people do this to their stock springs before. When they took them off, they were totally warped. I mean, they curled and wrapped like a bent slinky.
