A lot of insurance companies in the UK require this for theft cover. Who has the BMW dealer fit option? What about other (cheaper) versions?
I have now removed my 'Road Angel' GPS speed camera locator and rely totally on the integral GPS camera locator associated with my tracker that 'beeps' when I approach a speed camera, then goes quiet if I am not speeding. If I am speeding it beeps loudly and continuously. Brilliant, and very stealthy!

I got the dealer fit Tracker (Horizon) - I don't even know I've got it - for all I know it could just be a bit of paper! What tracker did you get then?

I don't!
But I do have 'shortfall insurance', so that if my car is a total loss through theft or crash then this makes up the difference between the insurance offer & the original invoice price. My cover lasts for 4 years --> If it is a total loss - then I get a new car (e60/e61 of course)

I have had Early Warning Netstar tracking systems on all my BMW's.

The system is automatically activated if the vehicle is tampered with or stolen.

From the control room they are able to limit the speed of, or stop the vehicle completely. They can even activate the Headlights & hazard ligts remotely.

However I only have the system because it is an insurance requirement.

If my car is stolen or hijacked I want a new one!

I would be interested to learn more about your TRACKER device which also provides limited warning of cameras.

I was about to fit a Snooper S6 to my GFs Audi-TT, but this might be a bird/stones option...

Do you have a URL which you can point me to, maybe?

rich535d......yes, let us all know, I'm currently using am origin B2.....and a fantastic bit of kit it is too.

As far as trackers go, a few cars ago, (e46 330i cab sport) my insurance company offered to cut my premium by the cost of the dealer fit tracker (?299)....no brainer then as they were the cheapest anyway.

now, keep car in locked garage at night and in private driveway at work...didn't fit a tracker this time.....will do for the M3 when it comes as it too will be a "desireable theft target" and a cab.

Rich, are you using "Tracker" as a generic term, or do you mean that you have a device supplied by "Tracker" the company - a little confusing.

How do you update the device with new camera locations - and more to the point, as requested above, what tracker beeps near cameras!

tracker horizon is the best

also try https://secure.eurowatchcentral.com/Default.aspx

a cra wa stolen from France loaded in a truck container of lau, shipped to marocco

the gps was UNable to work during the ship-as Tracker Hor.- can also send inside the container...

but after the boarded out in Marocco the car's gps sent a signal, in 5 minutes the guys were caught as the eurowatch works directly with police all around Europe

so either you go for a Horizon or the system watch of eurowatch
but the yonaly provide you with the tracking service the gps device you have to install separatelly.

I had Tracker (the company name!) on my Mercedes - but my 535d didn't need it so I didn't bother.

I phones BMW Assist the other day for a phone numebr and they new exactly where I was so that seemed good enough for me!!

(BTW I have flown with the police helicopters over London a few times, and the tracker monitor is constantly going! Not saying that they ignore it but it is not their No1 priority)
