The easiest way to get the best deal on a new car is to use this:

I did it. I used an internet FAX service to retain anonymity and avoid phone calls from sales guys. Oddly enough, my local dealer gave me the best deal out of all the Southern California dealers that I contacted.
People claim to get cars for as little as $500 over dealer invoice using this method. BMW's are typically $1000-2500 over invoice, but it depends on a lot of factors. Timing is everything. Add in a European Delivery discount and then you are really getting a bargain. Good luck!

I saved about 9k through military sales. Now they are offering 2500 in single options insentives
I have a base model 530i with steptronic and cold weather package. Paid 43k . When I built it on BMWUSA It was 52k and some change.
I understand you can save through European delivery. I would do that if I were in the states and wanted a vaction. Garmisch isn't to far from Munich and is very nice. Austria and Italy are pretty close. I love the area around Garmisch.
