Jabba, its worth doing the Re-map, mine was done by DMS and its much better, something like an extra 35 BHP but more impressive is the extra 100 ft/lbs of torque, and a few more MPG

OK ok, there was a whole load of info there, but others may be interested to know how what all the different 525d engines are!

I'm guessing you have the 177hp version -- don't think the "fleet" edition was around in 2004 -- but I like your idea of the remap as a way to confirming that No doubt E60BEEMER will be putting other ideas your way -- I see in another post the M-Sport pack was suggested!

I think if you check the manufacturing date/call BMW cust. services/check cc of engine that'll tell you for sure.

i have been on the e60.net for some time today (after about 3 months actually) however notice that there are not any 525d members, did no1 buy this engine?

i must admit i do not see many on the streets and motorways??

mostly i see 530d and 520d, and the occassional (550i, 545i, 535d, M5)

OR Could it be that only 525d was made in 2004 only here in the UK???
Any help or pics of your 525d would much appreciated,

sahil,

is the diesel fuel easily available at the pumps of mumbai?
that's awesome mate. my wife was down in mumbai earlier this year and said there were a lot of nice cars out there.
Let just say its easier to find diesel than petrol in any part of India, all our trucks, etc run on diesel hence the diesel rates are highly subsidized too... it's around 20% cheaper than petrol !

With the rising fuel prices, all major car brands are getting good diesel engines in as their demand is very high. It's no suprise that BMW's most popular engine has been the 525d, sales of the diesel have been more than 523i+525i+530i combined !

Moreover petrol engines are always detuned in India to match impure fuel quality, so basically the 530i and 525d are neck to neck in performance tests here.
Diesel engines are not detuned as they can manage our impure diesel fuel.

Btw, BMW recently launched the 530d, hoping my dealer can pull some strings and remap my 525d to a 530d ! Or else i'll have to figure how DMS can remap my engine here without me phyically sending the car to them in the UK

Your wife is right Mumbai has some sweet cars so does Delhi and all other major metros... around 40 RR Phantoms are currently in India.
Mumbai alone has a F599, couple of F430s,gallardos,LP640, RR phantoms including the drop top version, audi R8... to name a few besdies the several Cayannes,Q7s,5ers,E's etc

I have E61 but it has a 525d engine

The car was with 120kW when I bought it, and I did a re-map (now around 145kW), and it makes a diference

Hello from Portugal.
I have also a 525d (E60), it was 177Hp but it's now 210, with a re-map made here in Portugal. I know that they made a reading on my car's central unit, they sent it to Germany, and they received a new program to introduce then in the car. It's permanent, and not detectable. Well, it's really detectable when you are driving, it's super.
My car is now 175.000 km and runs perfect. Consumptions are lower than before, if you keep the same way of driving.
It's really a super car.
