My Ride: 525d 2004 March. total stock.18 AC SNITZER 177 WAS COMPLETE TOTAL WRITE OFF, BUT RESTORED TO PRESENT CONDITION..........FOR ULTRA CHEAP....HOWEVER TOOK 3 MONTHS TO DO IT
Thumbs up

i have been on the e60.net for some time today (after about 3 months actually) however notice that there are not any 525d members, did no1 buy this engine?

i must admit i do not see many on the streets and motorways??

mostly i see 530d and 520d, and the occassional (550i, 545i, 535d, M5)

OR Could it be that only 525d was made in 2004 only here in the UK???
Any help or pics of your 525d would much appreciated,

and one more thing how do i know bhp my E60 Is (info below)

PLUS: i endeavour to be here more from now on!!!!!

Thanks already in advance!!!

E60 525d SE 2004 Nov

The 2004 525d came with a 177hp 2.5 litre engine. At some stage they offered a "Fleet Edition" in some European countries, which was targetted at Company car ("Fleet") drivers, and this model had 163bhp. It still had the same torque, but was just done as a special by BMW to justify offering discounts and be more competitive with major customers!

The LCI 525d now has the 197hp 3.0 litre engine. This was introduced in March last year. There is no "Fleet Edition" with reduced power, just a differently spec'ed version, i.e. more options for less money. So all post March 2007 525d will have 197hp (when they leave the factory!).

I'd expect there to be quite a few 525d out there, because that was the entry level diesel E60 before BMW introduced the 520d. In Germany it was very popular, but (I believe) it has now been overtaken by the 520d.

Hope that answers some of your questions. Enjoy the forums and that (not so rare!) ride of yours...

Oh my Gosh my dear member, that has been mostly helpful.........truly

so then mine could be eithier a 163bhp or a 177bhp model then, i think it was a fleet vehicle as the milage was quite high when i got it (plus i had to restore to normal after write off) , i think it was 110,000 in 2 1/2 years
now its 169,000......

can i remap it and then i can find out just before what it really was???

520d, would have been my choice, but this deal i got on the 525d was increadible........

OK ok, there was a whole load of info there, but others may be interested to know how what all the different 525d engines are!

I'm guessing you have the 177hp version -- don't think the "fleet" edition was around in 2004 -- but I like your idea of the remap as a way to confirming that No doubt E60BEEMER will be putting other ideas your way -- I see in another post the M-Sport pack was suggested!
