Please comment before I call the dealer. Last week I noticed a little bit of white smoke while idling at cold start. Yesterday I noticed the same thing. When I pressed the gas pedal a few times, the white smoke intensified. It did not smell like anything and it looked like the smoke you see in the winter when the engine is cold. Both days were rather humid days. This morning I saw no smoke at all. Yesterday the white smoke was all gone by the time I got to work.

Is this something I should worry about or should I just blame it on the humidity? I plan to watch for this in the next few days. If I see it again in the next week or so, should I call the dealer? The bumper to bumper warranty is due to expire at the end of the month.

Thanks for any advice.

Was it coming form under the hood or the tailpipe?

Could be dew/water in the exhaust and it's just burning away.

It could also be coolant burn off due to a leaking/blown head gasket, cracked head, etc..

White smoke is definitely bad for the previous Pope.

Seriously, it's more than likely steam condensation rather than smoke. Have you driven through heavy rain or maybe washed the car and some water went in the exhaust?

Well, yesterday we had a downpour just before I went out to the car. I don't remember the circumstances of last week.

See if it continues. The fact that it goes away makes me think it's water.

That's what I was thinking, but if that's the case, wouldn't I see that everyday?

Take it to the dealer. Mine had white smoke... I forgot what the issue was, but it wasn't cheap.
