White smoke

Default White smoke

hi guys I noticed yesterday when I was slowing down my 08 LCI 520d let a puff of white smoke out I gave it a hard rev and it done the same but cleared its self I took the car for a drive and there were no more smoke car has no strange noises and has good power with no warnings etc today I was out done about 20 mile and all seemed ok to I noticed slowing down I had the same puff of white smoke again a few revs there was some smoke but its cleared again I done the same thing took it another drive and its driving 100% with no smoke or noises or missing etc


any ideas ?

maybe its a diesel thing but youre most likely burning oil

Possible oil sources are past the valve stem seals, past the pistons or via the intake.
Probably not the piston rings since you would likely see it under throttle.
Maybe check whats getting sucked into the intake from the EGR from the engine breather.

White smoke is an indication of coolant entering the combustion chamber. Recommend that the head-gasket be checked. If you've had any significant over-heats the head can warp and compromise the head gasket allowing coolant to leak into the cylinders.
