It seems to me that a car's design just lends itself to certain colors and the silver seems to bring out the current 5-series lines best.
In 1999, ready for the millennium, HiFis and cars were decked out in "millennium silver".
We haven't grown out ouf it (or laminate flooring) yet.

I agree that there is a trend towards white - I'm seeing an increasing amount of white E60s in Toronto! :thumbsdown: Incentive to buy more mods..

Alpine White looks REALLY good on the E60 body. I cant say the same for all cars but for the E60 White is HOT! I kinda like it on the new 997 too... the G35 in White is ok... but a Merc E class in white is a no no.

Seriously, white on the E39 is out of the question because the black trim on a white body seem so out of place.
But with the E60 design with everything in body colour, I think white definitely looks good.
If you say a white E60 is not cool (not thermo wise) then you haven't seen those white E60 in Japan.
