I read an article today predicting that white is to become the new 'trendy' exterior colour for cars, i.e. replacing black <_<

The article mentioned that a number of premium car makers show white cars at car shows. More importantly, it quoted an increase in the number of sales of white cars in Germany over the past months. One example that was quoted were top of the range Audi cars.

Does anybody know whether there is a similar trend for the E60, i.e. an increase in sales of white cars ?

If so what colour looses sales ?

White in slimy grubby wet old Britain - I don't think so - except for white van man.

Green is notoriously rejected as "invisible" and prone to accidents.

Black for the dealers, silver for the salesmen.

Mystic Blue for the loonies (ooops that's me).

:geek:

Mystic

Most of the new Audis I've seen over here are either black or silver. Same for BMWs or MB. White is not very common in Germany.

In 2001 my Astra was like the only white car in the traffic but now my E60 is just like any other car. I see more white cars than gray and blacks.

as was mentioned in an earlier post, white is considered a colour for trucks and vans in the UK......

I quite like the look of some members cars in white.

Ive never seen an E60 on the roads in the uk in white

my dealer (northampton) said he had never sold a white one

cheers

It seems to me that a car's design just lends itself to certain colors and the silver seems to bring out the current 5-series lines best.

There used to be a significant number of dark green 5-series here in the U.S. in the mid 1990s (and they looked good) but now BMW does not even offer the color. Same thing with white and red 911s in the 1980s, which don't look as good on today's 997.
