While washing the car yesterday...noticed the lower grille openings

My Ride: 2008 535i, 6spd mtx, Monaco Blue w/Beige interior. Sport, Preimum, Logic 7/HD/I-Pod/USB, Nav sys, rear sunshade, HUD, PDC, Split seats,
actually duct air to the inside of the front wheel wells. I'm sure this must be for brake cooling?

Correct, you will see where it leads if you look in the wheel well. Funny though that most of the European models don't have it, but they do have the automatic grille louvers.

What I found interesting is that on my new 550i with the M-sport package, the front has both fog lights and brake cooling ducts but on the similarly designed M5 front bumper, they needed to remove the fog lights to add brake cooling ducts...
