I have not had my 525 long so bear with me!!!
I could have sworn that the turn signal, speed control, and wiper stalks had orange backlighting beneath the white writing and symbols for easy viewing of the controls at night.........or am I losing my mind??? Are these non-lighted or have I blown a fuse or something?
Also my trunk latch under the dash will not work nor will the trunk release handle on the trunk lid....what is going on???

turn signal and wiper stalks do not light up. Make sure your key hole on the trunk is pointing north and south. try that out and let us know if that works.

I don't they have lights, at least on my 525 I don't remember seeing them lit up.

The mind is a terrible thing to waste. Probably would look cool, lit up, but not much improvement in knowing where or what they do. I can and do everything on all stalks by feel, knowing where they are and what they will do. I find location amongst the best of the many cars I have driven. IMO

It was those celery stalks in the fancy drinks last night that you saw light up. Keep it up and maybe you can become a stalker when you grow up...

The only thing with a tiny light is the windshield wiper...once you set it on auto the light comes on...
I think...and I know I didn't have celery stalks in fancy drinks last night
