Dude what are you talking about? The stock tire/wheel on e60 is a 17 inch 225 tire. Was 16 before 05.

225 is fine given the correct offset of the wheel. 245 275 is definetly not needed except for appearence and performance. I had 245s all the way around on 18 inch sport package from factory.

Anyway just make sure offsets are the same as oem 17 inch wheels from bmw

Put down the pipe, and step away from the keyboard. Of course he is concern with appearance why else would he be replacing the rims and tires?

225... too narrow for a 18 especially if you want a E60 to still look nice.

Hard to tell/provide a good answer because brand, quality, and other specifications for wheels and tires can vary widely. If you would provide more specifics the response would be more meaningful.

I gotta saythat is pretty low for any wheel and tire setup. That is 70 bucks per wheel and per tire or so.

the 17" rim is 17x7.5.... (nonsport) and 17x8 (sport) the 18" rim is a 18x8

You don't have a 225 on your 18x8 do you?

225 is too thin for 18s unless the rims you're trying to get are a 18x7.5 (which i highly doubt and don't recommend).

They are selling you thinner tires to save money. Get at least a 245 if its an 8" wide wheel.

DUDE!! You're absolutely right Diamond about the skinny tires on the older models.

in any case, to the original poster, what is the width of the rim? if it's 18x8 i strongly recommend you run 245/40/18. if you're adamant about running 225, the tire would have to be 225/45/18 to keep it close to the OEM outside diameter.

Diamond's post was the smartest response in this thread, it actually made people think to ask "oh maybe its a 7.5 inch wide wheel?" relax dude... you have no idea what size rims he's getting 225's would be fine depending on the width of the rims he's purchasing no need to go running around telling people they are f'in morons and to shut up

he obviously found a cheap price on a new setup that he's interested in so lets here him out before we continue the pissing contest and try helping him instead
