Where do I start with what I've bought lol

Good morning guys bit if a puzzle for you guys lol

Anyways recently purchased a 2005 e60 525d msport auto "with lost keys"

Been off the road since 2013 in decent condition I thought and the cash I paid wasnt too bad.

Found out the cas2 unit was missing when I got it home

So lost keys . I had 2 options in mind

1. Get a replacement from the dealer
2. Get a ecu kit from someone breaking one

I went for the 2nd option . Key set inc transponder box that bolts on to the back of the barrel .cas 2 unit .and engine ecu dde5 unit

Woohoo got them all swapped over and now have power :) and an engine that's turning over (good sign) (btw this is when I found out the original ecu was missing also)

After a few electrical gremlins. the usual boot was filled with water and had its wicked way with the mpm.

So I decided to remove any old fuel from the tank. Let's face it 5yrold fuel cant be good . This also showed me the tank pump was knackered.

At this stage mpm and fuel tank pump purchased (second hand but good used )

Fresh fuel and filter fitted lines blew out . Ignition on pump kicks into life . Bleed the system . Hey presto fuel at the injectors. Lock them off still doesn't want to start

Check fault codes again only fault showing is for glow plug no6 short

It gets even worse at this stage lol .

Engine still wont fire but upon further investigation its had a 3.0 fitted at some point in tag on engine is 30 6D 3 and the stickers on the gearbox side says m57TUE2

From what I can tell there is a positive wire (disconected and no extra plug for it in the box) that runs from the ecu box to the o/s beside the air filter housing (original wire) that looks like the engines came from an e90 325 .

That's the fun part sorry for the lenthy read . If your still reading lol

I do have bmw inpa and other software with a d Kan usb and I have connected and went through some of it

Would the wiring looms be different from the e90 and e60 would anyone know

Thanks again kev.

I don't envy your task. At every turn you're finding a new problem. Any idea why it was taken off the road 6 years ago?

I'm not sure actually why it was taken off the road . All he said was the keys were lost and he had a company car so it just sat there . But somthing says it's to do with the engine change

Yeah its one of them cars where you just expect everything to be a problem lol

But I'm not going to give up I like a challenge and its only really my time so it's not costing me labour wise

I love that you're taking this on and willing to figure it out. It obviously takes time to do so but I look forward to reading more updates from you.

Ach it's all about learning lol

Just need to see if the 3 series engine wiring is compatible with the 5series ecu

Does anyone know if the vin would cause an issue with it not starting?

Well I managed to read the caz unit with ncs expert and read the file with ncs dummy . Now to change it to a 3.0 on there and put it back in then pair them again see how that goes .

Also found the ecu pinout diagrams so I'll get them printed off and see how it looks see if theres anything different
