Some nice Hartge upgrades available from Bird's Auto.

About 1,300GBP for the 218 -> 255 bhp (369 --> 403 lbft) remapping (seems a decent price)

Folks

I am seriously thinking about this kit. Just FYI, here is the email that I sent and the reply that came back from Birds:

Subject: Hartge diesel performance kit

Hi there

I read about this kit in one of the BMW forums and am interested in learning more.

I took delivery of a new BMW E60 530d at the end of October last year and live in West London. I have three questions and would be grateful if you can help with an answer:

1) How does your kit affect my standard BMW warrenty?
2) I currently pay around ?850/year insurance on full no-claims. What is your experience of the premium uplift having added this kit?
3) What does your kit cost?

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thankyou for your enquiry into Birds UK. The anwers to your questions are as follows:

1) It does not affect the standard BMW Warranty.
2) Insurance varys quite a lot. Most customers report a ?100-?300 uplift depending on circumstance.
3) Our kit costs ?860 and we charge ?115 to fit it, both exclude VAT, The total price is ?1150 including VAT

We offer a collection and delivery service to west London free of charge. Also, if you are not happy with the system in any way we also offer a no-quibble money back guarantee.

I hope this answers your questions and if you would like to proceed, please can you provide us with your address and we will send through the relevant paperwork.

Just checked on the insurance. Premium would go from ?841 to ?1030 and the excess from ?200 to ?350.

I checked with the BMW salesman who sold me the car & he tells me that the addition of the Hartge kit would certainly "affect" the standard BMW warranty on the car. Given the amount of capital tied up in the vehicle I have no intention of doing anything that would put this investment at risk.

Best option will be to trade up to a 535d later in the year!

I'm going to try the AC Shnitzer kit.
I will get something like the 535d performance.
The BMW warranty is not going to be afected, they are partners.
The ACS kit it's installed on your BMW dealer and ACS gives one year warranty.
