Just checked the weather for the next 7 days in my area:
50°F 43°F 43°F 48°F 50°F 46°F
I think I've waited long enough! I'm going to swap the winter tires on my wife's truck tomorrow and I'm putting my summers on the day after. Outside of rain, the weather looks like it is staying above 40*F for the most part! Yeah!

Hi Ontario.
I'm not going to put my summer's back on juuust yet.. Give it a little more time (patience,) the rain should be coming soon.
Let those showers wash all the salt and rocks away, give the city some time to get the streetsweepers back in action (which usually means no more snow)
then.. we party!!
or do like Piven said, and put 'em on now.. and if it does snow.. it's a quick adjustment you can probably do yourself
it's about 60 down there, huh? lucky...

Swapped mine out this past weekend. Once temps get up to the mid 40's then I usually change em out.
It only takes about 25 minutes to put them back on if we get a big snow storm. I drove with my summer tires on (General Exclaim UHP's) through 3-4 inches of snow a couple years ago and was fine. Just watch the forecast and you'll be alright.

narvselius said it best and all the tire stuff I've read says 7C (45F) is the best temperature for changeovers. Above that the tires get sticky as they heat up and the handling deteriorates.

Question 1. Do you expect to get snowfall in your part of the world at this time of year?
If yes, keep the winters on.
Yes the performance does drop off as temp rises, but that is nowhere near as big a handicap as having summers on, then getting a significant snowfall.

Hmmm... let me find that pic last summer of snow in June... (no seriously, we did have a day of snow in June). Can't say I've seen snow in July here, but Calgary -- now there's a real possibility! They can have a 20c day in December and snow in the summer!

How do you rate Lake Louise for Late March skiing then?
Sounds like it might get a bit warm?
