I mean facelift which is minor. Kind of what BMW had on the 7 series. Some minor chaneges in the inside, too. I doubt that would include new engines though.

BMW facelifts their cars four years after launch.
That would mean September producion 2007.

Seeing the facelifts done to BMWs in the past few years you can bet on the following changes as of September 2007:
1) New bumpers front and rear
2) New headlights and grille
3) New rear light clusters with LED-technology
4) Redesigned center console in the interior
We'll see in less than 2 years...

that figures...6 months after I get mine they'll change a bunch! How much of this stuff is usually able to be adapted to a prior model?

According to Heikki whole car will be redesign. If BMW starts redesigns their models every 4 years they will definitely start losing costumers, because I won't pay for the car that cost me over 60k and its redesign that often. I can tell you one thing that there will be very minor changes.

No I am not expecting total "redesign". The sheetmetal will remain the same. They'll do just the typical mid-life facelift where changes are mainly to plastic parts: bumpers, lights, wing mirrors etc. The tooling changes (i.e. molds) for plastic parts are relatively small investments.
Do I dare to predict that the interior facelift (most likely the center console) will include getting rid of the handbrake lever and moving to Audi A6 style button operated electric parking brake?
