Facelift most likely coming when they shift to model year 2008, which will happen in September 2007.
When we compare with the E39. Launch was end 1995. End was begin 2003. That means 7,5 years... Facelift was september 2000... after 4 years after launch. That means april 2007 for the E60...

Well this is the first year for the 550i so that doesn't makea lot of sense to me..but if you include the 545 etc then you're saying an 06 is year 2 or 3 of the cycle? What year was the first E60 and what was it? And you're saying that by 2008 the 55oi will be different? What exactly do we mean by "refreshed"? Are we talking radical or different body or just minor stuff?

Is this question just for curiosity or is there a reason behind it?

I would consider the chart as a listing of complete new models - i.e. the F10. I would consider a facelift exactly what the 750 got this year. That being said, and with pure speculation on my part, I would expect an 07 facelift for the E60.

what exactly do you mean by facelift? Appearance or electronics or engine or? Surely they don't switch the bodystyle do they? Sorry, I'm not familiar with their policies?

BMW is constantly changing engines through the life cycle of a model in addition to offering new options so as to keep the model "fresh". This has been a big part of their marketing strategy for years. Buy your car today, enjoy it today. There will always be something new just around the corner. That's what keep some of us coming back every few years (see, the marketing strategy works)!!!
