My Ride: '05 545i - scheduled for ED pickup in Munich on 7/22!
I see 'MY2005' written sometimes....does that just stand for model year 2005? When does a model year start for BMW? Say I wanted the first '05 or '06 car, when would the dealers get it?
I'm interested in the 530, but I've heard rumors about BMW upgrading the 3.0 liter inline6 to about 258 hp and getting 1 or 2 more miles per gallon using Valvetronic. In fact, I think its already available for the 630 in Europe and they are implementing it across all models now. Does anyone know when the 530 will get Valvetronic in the USA? And does BMW usually wait until the next model year to introduce a new feature like this, or can they add it sometime mid-year? (i.e. Would I have to wait until the '06 models?)
Thanks,
Rich

The new i6 engines will make a mid-year entry into the E60 lineup starting March 2005 production.
Thanks Lomag
Do you have the technical data of the new engines? (Horsepower, etc...)
