My Ride: 2006 White 530xi
Default

I have a 2006 530xi with stock 17" style 138 wheels (7.5x17 offset 43). I want to purchase a set of 18" style 162 staggard rims off a 2006 330xi. The front rims are 8x18 offset 34 and the rears are 8.5x18 offset 37. Will these fit well and look good, as I don't want them to stick out from the wheelwell or be to close to the struts front or rear. I think the front tires should be 245/40/18 but I am not so sure about the rears. If I run 245/40/18 on the rear, my concern would be that the front tire on 8" wide rim vs rear tire on 8.5" rim? If I run a 275/35/18 on the rear, there is a conflict because of only 8.5" rear rim size, and will it be to close to rear strut? Any help greatly appreciated, thanks Chris.

You should do an extensive search and read up about this topic ... it has been discussed by many members so many times before.

Take my setup for comparison with your setup plan ... I'm using 8.5" width up front w/ offset 35 and 9.5" width on the rear w/ offset 40 and look at the pic on my sig of how it sits (don't worry 'bout the ride height as mine has been lowered) so your wheel fitment is within 'allowance' and as far as on the rear there are plenty of space to the inside clearance w/ the suspension.

Same as tires setup, mine 245 up front and 275 rear no problem, as far as sidewall ratio many members here do +1 up size and use 40/35 as oppose to BMW recommended 35/30 for additional 'cushion' and also give a less fender gap visually.

As for tire size fitment w/ the wheel, you may wanna chk around 245 maybe be ok to for 8-9" width but 275 maybe for 9"-up.

Smaller offset wheel w/ <30 (maybe <25 for the extreme) will start to protrude out off the fender well ...

GL!

My Ride: 2006 White 530xi

So Sunday I purchased the 2006 330xi style 162 rims for my 2006 530xi and installed the drivers side to have a look at fitment. They seem to fit more flush with no problems. I couldn't take a chance on different size tires even though the front wheels are 18x8 and rears are 18x8.5 because of difference in tire diameters being off more than 1% and limited by rear wheel width 8.5". So a set of 245/40/18 Continental DWS will be installed shortly. Looking forward to a new look. I just hope it will not be noticable that the rear rim is .5" wider with the same size tires on all 4.
