Default Wheel Question

I have a set of HRE 590s on my e60 which were originally made for an e92 M3. The wheels fit fine, but the rears are 11s (I am running 305s back there) and every so often I get some rubbing if I hit a huge dip. Generally, the roads down here in NC are fantastic, so this is a non-issue, but I do want to swap out my standard sport springs to H&R sports and I am worried that the rubbing will become more acute.

QUESTION: Would it be possible for a (TRUSTED) machinist to "shave" down the back of the face (where it bolts up to car) a few mm to alter the wheels offset? (Yes, he better know what he is doing, of course, thanks.)

I have an inquiry in with the HRE Service Manager, but I fear they may not give me a reply because of the liability issues that might arise. I cannot imagine that taking 3mm off the wheel would impact its structural integrity, but I am not an engineer, so I defer to anyone here with a view.

Thank you!

Hmmm....I wouldn't do it. It doesn't seem right to mess with the wheel's structure\design like that. Instead, why don't you look into getting the rear fenders rolled? I think that can give you more than 3mm if needed.

I would roll your fenders instead of shaving. However if the rubbing is happening only on big dips have you looked at the plastic fender liner to see if it is that? If so just pop it out, heat the section that's rubbing and push it out a little. I mention the liner since my rear wheel rubbing was from the fender liner towards the top.
